Paris & Justin | Engagement Session at the Bonneville Salt Flats

Meet Paris and Justin! They recently got engaged and flew from their home in Ohio to Utah for a spring break road trip. They wanted to take their engagement pictures somewhere unique while on their trip and we decided to meet up at the Bonneville Salt Flats to make their photo dreams come true. Getting to meet people from all over the country is one of my favorite parts of being an engagement and wedding photographer. Utah has so many amazing places to take photos or elope and I can't believe it's all so close to where I live!

The Salt Flats were flooded from all of the snow Utah got this last winter, and I think the effect was gorgeous. The water was a few inches high but still surprisingly warm! We weren’t able to get the summer salt flat look they were hoping for, where the ground is dry and slightly cracking, but Paris and Justin were very easygoing and happy to make anything work. I really loved the reflection of the mountains and clouds in the water and I think it made for some really unique photos.

I LOVED the outfits they picked! I think it’s so cute to wear one more formal look and one more casual look during an engagement session. I thought the colors they picked looked absolutely beautiful against the mountain backdrop and flooded salt flats. And can we talk about Paris' pearl dress? Jaw-dropping! We all got a little wet walking around but they splashed in the salty water and had a blast. I also loved that they brought a bottle of champagne to drink at the end of our session. That is such a fun prop to bring in and helps mix up the classic engagement session poses a bit, so keep that in mind for your next photo session! Bringing in a prop or something to use during the session always helps give the photos more personality.
