Reasons to Elope Instead of Doing a Traditional Wedding

Wedding celebrations are so memorable but are also a lot of work. If the wedding process is overwhelming you, have you thought about  eloping? Here are four things to consider to help you decide if an elopement is perfect for your wedding day!

You value experiences over things

Were you always more excited for a family vacation than by the gifts under the Christmas tree? Would you rather have quality time with your loved ones instead of the newest gadget? Then perhaps an elopement is for you. Eloping in and of itself starts your marriage off with an adventure! Think of the stories you’ll have to tell your future family.

You prefer more intimate settings

Which sounds more appealing: standing up in front of a room full of friends and family or an intimate gathering with the most important people in your life? Neither answer is incorrect, it’s simply a matter of personal preference.

A smaller gathering will make you less front-and-center and will have a cozier feel. A large gathering will have you as the center of attention but more witnesses to your love. If you’d prefer to be with your closest people and have more opportunities for one-on-one connection with your spouse and loved ones, an elopement will be the perfect opportunity to do so!

You have a nontraditional approach

Search Pinterest for wedding planning tips and you’re sure to come across a whole slew of wedding traditions ranging from cake cuttings to bouquet tosses and everything in between. Many couples love to use these traditions to plan their weddings, but if these traditions don’t jive with you and your relationship, a fresh approach could be just the thing! Swap out those traditions for your own twists on them or something completely different or new.

You feel pulled to the great outdoors

If nature is calling (mother nature, that is) and you feel the pull to venture into the great outdoors for your wedding ceremony, eloping is the perfect way to take the path less travelled. If there’s a special location that’s significant in your relationship or if you love to travel and want to go to a specific destination, why not elope there and have that special day in that special place.

Whether you choose to elope or have a more traditional wedding, the most important thing to consider is which format will be the most enjoyable and memorable for you and your fiance! This is the most important day of your life, so might as well make sure it’s one you’ll love and cherish for all of the years to come.
